FAQ

Pricing questions

Do I pay per clip or per minute?

Per minute of the video you send. Each source minute costs $0.03 and every clip cut from it is included, so 3 clips or 20 cost the same. A 60 minute podcast is ~$1.80.

How are the minutes counted?

By the length of the source video. Every successful job reports it as usage.source_minutes, and that is the number you pay for. A 58.1 minute episode costs ~$1.74, whether you ask for 5 clips or 20.

Do I pay for a failed job?

No. A job that ends with status failed costs nothing, whether we could not fetch the file, found no speech in it or broke on our side. The job's error.code tells you which, and you can send the same request again.

Is there a subscription?

No. You add prepaid credit to your account and each job takes its cost from that balance. Nothing renews, and there are no seats or plans. New accounts get $1.00 free, which covers 33 minutes of video.

How does the volume rate work?

Once you pass 2,000 source minutes in a calendar month, every extra minute that month costs $0.02 instead of $0.03. You do not have to ask for it. 3,000 minutes in one month costs ~$80.00.

Does unused credit expire?

Not within 12 months of the day you add it. Credit is not refundable, except where the law says it must be. The full rules are in our terms.

How does this compare to OpusClip and Klap?

The OpusClip API runs on plan credits, about $0.097 per source minute on Pro, with a cap of 15 hours of video a month. Klap charges $0.44 per video plus $0.80 for each short you generate and export. clipsdk is a flat $0.03 per source minute with no monthly minute cap.
