Moment ranking

Find the moments worth posting, scored 0 to 100

clipsdk reads every word of a long video, finds the moments that work on their own and scores each one from 0 to 100 for its hook, complete thought and payoff. You get up to 20 clips back, best first, each with its score and a one-line reason.

How ranking works

From a long recording to a ranked list

  1. 01

    Transcribe

Every word gets a timestamp, so a clip can start and end between words instead of in the middle of one.

    language

  2. 02

    Find candidates

We look for stretches that stand on their own, between your shortest and longest length. The default is 20 to 60 seconds.

  3. 03

    Score

Each candidate gets a score from 0 to 100 for its hook, whether it is a complete thought, and its payoff, plus a one-line reason.

The score

Three things make a moment work

Each clip comes back with one score and one reason. A 79 with the reason 'Strong story with a slower start' tells you exactly what held it back.

Hook

Does the opening line make you stop scrolling? Stakes, a bold claim or a number up front score high. A slow start pulls the score down.

We charged nine dollars a month for something that saved people ten hours a week.
Rank 2, score 91

Complete thought

Does it make sense to someone who never saw the episode? A clip that leans on earlier context scores lower than one that stands alone.

Specific and actionable, works without context
Reason for rank 4, score 84

Payoff

Does it land? A turn, a number, a takeaway or a laugh at the end. Clips that trail off lose points.

Payroll was due Friday, the bank had said no twice, and then one cold email changed everything.

FAQ

Questions, answered

How does clipsdk decide which moments become clips?

It transcribes the video with a timestamp on every word, finds stretches that work on their own and scores each one from 0 to 100 for its hook, whether it is a complete thought, and its payoff. The highest scores come back as clips, ranked, each with a one-line reason.

What does the score mean?

It is how well a moment should work as a standalone short, from 0 to 100. Sort by it, or auto-post anything above a bar you trust, like 85, and send the rest to a quick review.

Can I steer which moments it picks?

Yes. Pass a prompt in plain words, like "funny moments" or "anything about pricing", and the ranking favors moments that match it. Leave it out to get the strongest moments overall.

How many clips can I get, and how long are they?

Up to 20 clips per video, 5 by default. Each clip runs 10 to 90 seconds. Set min_seconds and max_seconds to narrow it; the default is 20 to 60 seconds.

Does asking for more clips cost more?

No. You pay $0.03 per minute of source video and every clip is included, so a 60 minute episode costs ~$1.80 for 3 clips or 20. A failed job costs nothing.

What do I get back for each clip?

Its rank, score, reason, title, start and end time, transcript and a ready-to-post caption, plus links to the MP4, a poster image and SRT and VTT caption files.
